We are currently looking for one or two new committee members, including a chairperson, to help support the development of MYA. If you are passionate about bringing the benefits of yoga and mindfulness to those in our community who would not normally access them, then please consider joining our committee.

Power of Being Present

Steve was interviewed on BBC Radio Jersey on 18th December about ways of coping in these difficult times. He spoke of the power of staying present with great tips on how to manage this.

MYA sessions at the Self Care event

We are really please to to be taking part in this Self Care event. Yoga with Kate will be offering an introduction to Hatha Yoga, followed by the opportunity to do a body scan and compassion practice with Carolyn. These sessions are free, however, we would really welcome donations for MYA so that we can continue to offer free mindfulness and yoga to the people who can not normally access them. We will also be available throughout the day, for you to come and talk to us and find out more.

 

 


 

Recovery College Courses

Jersey Recovery College have now published their courses for this term. MYA is delighted to be co-facilitating introductory courses for yoga and mindfulness again. They are running a whole range of courses related to mental health and wellbeing so please check out their site.


Chair yoga at Cheval Roc

We had our first chair yoga session at Cheval Roc on Tuesday, 18th August. We are piloting this over 4 weeks and then will review and based on this possibly plan further sessions and a partnership.


Our first online session

To celebrate the launch of our website and social media we held our first online mindfulness session on 16th August, when we did a short mindfulness and Compassion practice. Here is the first practice of breath awareness, the second will be posted later this week.


Summer course with Brighter Futures

We are now running a relaxing 5 week Introduction to Mindfulness and Yoga course with Brighter Futures.  it is great to be back teaching live.


Teaching during Covid-19

Although we had to cut down on our teaching we still managed to run some courses on line and are becoming much more skilled with zoom and other platforms.


Our first quarter

We started teaching at the end of January 2020 and in the first quarter  we ran 6 courses with 138 attendances in total.

Accessible yoga teacher training

In November 2019 some of our teachers completed a Accessible Yoga teacher training course. This included chair, wall and floor yoga making yoga accessible to all.
